La Revista de Enfermedades Raras publica artículos originales, artículos de revisión y casos clínicos en español e inglés, sobre cualquier aspecto relacionado con las enfermedades raras.
Preparación y envío de manuscritos
Los manuscritos deben enviarse a través del nuevo sistema editorial electrónico de la revista en la dirección electrónica https://publisher.eerr.permanyer.com/login.php donde, primeramente, el autor de correspondencia debe registrarse como autor. Una vez que cuente con nombre de usuario y contraseña, podrá cargar en el sistema los archivos de su trabajo siguiendo las instrucciones.
Para evitar duplicidades en el sistema, por favor absténgase de crear una nueva solicitud cuando reenvíe sus archivos modificados. Debe continuar utilizando la misma referencia hasta que su manuscrito culmine el proceso editorial.

Formato del cuerpo del artículo
Resúmenes
Los artículos originales deberán contener un resumen en español y uno en inglés estructurado de la siguiente forma: Título - Objetivo - Método - Resultados - Conclusiones - Palabras clave.
Para los artículos de revisión el resumen debe estructurarse de la siguiente forma: Título - Resumen - Palabras clave.
Introducción
Deberá incluir los antecedentes, el planteamiento del problema y el objetivo del estudio en una redacción libre y continua debidamente sustentada en la bibliografía.
Métodos
Se señalarán claramente las características de la muestra, los métodos empleados con las referencias pertinentes, en tal forma que la lectura de este capítulo permita a otros investigadores, realizar estudios similares. Los métodos estadísticos empleados deberán señalarse claramente con la referencia correspondiente. Los autores deben detallar en este apartado los procedimientos éticos que han seguido; necesarios para experimentos con animales, pacientes, manejo de datos confidenciales, consentimiento informado, etc. y que cuentan con la autorización del comité de ética de su institución.
Resultados
Deberá incluir los hallazgos importantes del estudio, comparándolos con las figuras o gráficas estrictamente necesarias y que amplíen la información vertida en el texto. No repita información en el escrito y en las tablas y/o figuras.
Discusión
Deberán de contrastarse los resultados con lo informado en la literatura y con los objetivos e hipótesis planteados en el trabajo.
Conclusiones
En esta sección resumirán las principales conclusiones del estudio y si estas fueran preliminares se sugerirán futuros estudios que necesitarían realizarse. Es necesario que las conclusiones sean congruentes con los objetivos que se plantearon y que se deriven directamente del proceso de investigación realizado.
Referencias
Se presentarán de acuerdo con los Requisitos Uniformes para los Manuscritos Enviados a Revistas Biomédicas (Comité Internacional de Editores de Revistas Biomédicas). Las referencias se indicarán con números arábigos en forma consecutiva y en el orden en que aparecen por primera vez dentro del texto. Se referirán en el texto, cuadros y pies de figura con los números correspondientes. En las citas con múltiples autores (más de seis autores), se deberá incluir únicamente los 6 primeros autores del trabajo, seguido de et al., después de la abreviatura del nombre o nombres del 6º autor. En el caso de 6 o menos autores, se deberá incluir en la cita a todos ellos, (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html).
Tablas
Deberán presentarse a doble espacio, enumeradas en forma consecutiva con el orden citado dentro del texto, con los títulos en la parte superior; el significado de las abreviaturas y notas explicativas irán al pie. Se deberán incluir al final del manuscrito después de la sección de referencias.

El autor debe mencionar las organizaciones que financian su investigación en la sección de Financiación de su manuscrito, incluyendo los números de subvención en caso de que fuesen necesarios.
Conflicto de intereses
Los autores deben describir cualquier relación financiera o personal que tengan con otras personas u organizaciones y que pudieran dar lugar a un conflicto de intereses en relación con el artículo que se remite para publicación.
Para fomentar la transparencia y calidad de la investigación, se solicitará a los autores la autoevaluación de la adherencia a las guías internacionales pertinentes, según el tipo de estudio:
– Ensayos clínicos: CONSORT (http://www.consort-statement.org/). Además, todos los ensayos deberán estar registrados en alguna de las bases de datos internacionales, y siempre se deberá indicar el número de registro correspondiente.
– Estudios observacionales: STROBE (www.strobe-statement.org).
– Artículos sobre pruebas diagnósticas: STARD (www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/stard/).

Tipos de artículos
Editorial
Esta sección estará dedicada al análisis y la reflexión sobre los problemas de salud de la población, los distintos enfoques preventivos y terapéuticos, así como los avances logrados en el campo de la investigación biomédica. Por invitación del editor.
Artículo original
La extensión máxima será de 20 páginas (formato Word), incluyendo iconografía y bibliografía. Su contenido presenta los resultados de la investigación clínica o básica original. En los artículos originales el cuerpo del manuscrito debe ir estructurado en Introducción, Métodos, Resultados, Discusión y Conclusiones.
Artículo de revisión
La extensión máxima será de 20 páginas (formato Word), incluyendo iconografía y bibliografía. Será sobre un tema de actualidad y de relevancia médica. El autor principal o el correspondiente deberá ser una autoridad en el área o tema que se revisa y deberá anexar una lista bibliografía de sus contribuciones que avale su experiencia en el tema.
Caso clínico
Será sobre una experiencia reciente y de relevancia médica. Deberá incluir títulos, resúmenes y palabras clave en español e inglés. La extensión total no debe superar las 6 páginas.
Copyright
Los trabajos enviados deberán acompañarse de una carta firmada por todos los autores del trabajo, en la que se haga constar que éste no ha sido publicado con anterioridad, ni se ha enviado simultáneamente a otra revista, que no existe conflicto de intereses y en caso de ser aceptada ceden los derechos de autor a la Permanyer, que los publicará en abierto bajo la licencia CC BY NC ND (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/ by-nc-nd/4.0/).

Proceso editorial
El proceso editorial consiste en 6 etapas:
1. Recepción del manuscrito (indeterminado, dependiendo de que el autor cumpla con los requisitos): su objetivo es comprobar que el manuscrito cumple con las especificaciones de estas instrucciones para autores y que la documentación remitida está completa.
2. Revisión editorial inicial (máximo 5 días hábiles): su objetivo es corroborar la pertinencia, actualidad, originalidad y aportación científica del manuscrito, así como la solidez metodológica y estadística del estudio. En este momento se someterá a un sistema electrónico de detección de plagio. Derivado de ello se podrá obtener un dictamen de rechazado o se enviará a revisión por investigadores pares.
3. Revisión por investigadores pares (máximo 30 días hábiles): Se obtendrá la opinión de al menos dos personas expertas en el área en cuestión, quienes evaluaran los aspectos técnicos y metodológicos de la investigación
4. Revisión editorial (máximo 7 días hábiles): su objetivo es tomar una decisión basada en la opinión de revisores pares. El dictamen puede ser rechazado, cambios mayores, cambios menores o aceptado. En el caso de cambios mayores o menores se someterá nuevamente a evaluación por los revisores pares iniciales.
5. Edición final (6 semanas): su objetivo es la edición técnica y lingüística (y traducción), maquetación de galeras, asignación del DOI, y corrección por parte del autor.
6. Publicación adelantada: Todos los manuscritos serán publicados ahead of print en la página web de la revista en cuanto completen el proceso de edición, hasta ser incorporados en un número final de la revista.
Pruebas de impresión (PDF) de su artículo aceptado
El autor de correspondencia recibirá las pruebas del artículo para la revisión y corrección de errores de terminología, u otras actualizaciones relacionadas con datos/cifras. Dado que el artículo estará ya editado según la normativa interna de la revista, no se admitirán correcciones de estilo. El autor de correspondencia recibirá un correo electrónico con el artículo en formato PDF, sobre el que podrá dejar sus comentarios. El autor podrá necesitar la versión 9 (o superior) de Adobe Reader, que descargable gratuitamente). Para otros requerimientos de sistema, por favor visite la página web de Adobe.
Alternativamente, los autores podrán hacer una lista de las correcciones y enviarlas por correo electrónico. Cualquier cambio importante en esta fase, estará sujeto a la aprobación del Editor. Asegúrese de incluir todos los cambios en un solo correo electrónico, puesto que no podemos garantizar la inclusión de correcciones subsiguientes.

The Revista de Enfermedades Raras publishes original articles, review articles, and case reports on any field in the rare diseases’ ambit.
Preparation and submission of manuscripts
Manuscripts must be sent through the new electronic publishing system of the journal at https://publisher.eerr.permanyer.com/login.php. The author of correspondence must create an account by registering. Once you have a username and password, you may upload your files to the platform by following the instructions.
To avoid duplications in the system, please refrain from creating a new request when resubmitting your modified files. You should continue using the same reference until your manuscript completes the editorial process.

Format of the main text
Abstracts
Original articles must contain an abstract in English and one in Spanish, structured as follows: - Title - Objective - Method - Results - Conclusions – Keywords.
In Review articles, the abstract should be structured as follows: - Title - Summary - Keywords
Introduction
It should include the background, the approach to the problem and the objective of the study in continuous writing duly supported in the bibliography.
Methods
The characteristics of the sample and the methods used (with relevant references) will be clearly indicated, in such a way that the reading of this chapter allows other researchers to carry out similar studies. The statistical methods used should be clearly indicated with the corresponding reference. The authors must include the ethical procedures they have followed for experiments with animals, patients, management of confidential data, informed consent, etc. and they must confirm having the authorization from the Ethics Committee at their institution.
Results
They should include relevant findings of the study, comparing them with figures or graphs that are strictly necessary and that extend the information given in the text. Do not repeat information in the writing and in the tables and / or figs.
References
They will be presented in accordance with the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals (International Committee of Editors of Biomedical Journals). References will be indicated consecutively with Arabic numerals and in the order in which they appear for the first time inside the text. The text, tables, and figures (and captions, if applicable) must be referenced as well. In citations with multiple authors (more than six authors), only the first 6 authors of the work should be included, followed by et al., After the abbreviation of the name or names of the 6th author. Types of articles
Original article
The maximum extension will be 20 pages (Word format) including the iconography and bibliography. It presents the results of original clinical investigation or basic research. In the original articles the body of the manuscript should be structured by: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusions.
Review article
The maximum extension will be 20 pages (Word format) including the iconography and bibliography. It approaches a current issue of medical relevance. The main author must be an authority in the area or subject under review and should add a list of their own publications which endorse their expertise in the field.
Clinical case
Case reports should cover a recent and relevant medical experience. They must include title, abstract and key words, both in Spanish and English. The maximum length for clinical cases is 6 pages.
Copyright
All submitted works must be accompanied by a letter signed by all the authors, stating that it has not been published previously, nor has it been sent simultaneously to another journal, and that there is no conflict of interest. In case of acceptance, the copyright will be transferred to Permanyer, who will publish them open access under the license: CC BY-NC-ND (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/).

Editorial process
The editorial process consists of 6 stages:
1. Reception of the manuscript (indeterminate, depending on whether the author meets the requirements): its objective is to verify that the manuscript complies with the specifications of these instructions for authors and that the submitted documentation is complete.
2. Initial editorial review (maximum 5 business days): its objective is to corroborate the relevance, timeliness, originality, and scientific contribution of the manuscript, as well as the methodological and statistical soundness of the study. At this time, it will be submitted to an electronic plagiarism detection system. Derived from this, a rejected opinion may be obtained, or it will be sent for review by peer researchers.
3. Review by peer researchers (maximum 30 business days): the opinion of at least two experts in the area in question will be obtained, who will evaluate the technical and methodological aspects of the investigation.
4. Editorial review (maximum 7 business days): its objective is to make a decision based on the opinion of peer reviewers. The opinion can be rejected, major changes, minor changes or accepted. In the case of major or minor changes, it will be submitted again for evaluation by the initial peer reviewers.
5. Final edition (6 weeks): its objective is the technical and linguistic edition (and translation), layout of galleys, DOI assignment, and correction by the author.
6. Advanced publication: All manuscripts will be published ahead of print on the journal's website as soon as they complete the editing process, until they are incorporated into a final issue of the journal.
Print proofs (PDF) of accepted articles
The corresponding author will receive proofs of the article for revision and correction of terminology errors, or any other updates related to facts/figures. As the article will already have been edited according to the journal’s internal editorial guidelines, style corrections will not be accepted. The corresponding author will receive an email with the article in PDF format, on which they can leave their comments. Authors will need to have Adobe Reader (version 9, or a later version), downloadable for free). For other system requirements, please visit the Adobe website.
Alternatively, authors may list their corrections and submit them via email. Any major changes at this stage will be subject to the approval of the Editor. Authors should make sure to include all changes in a single email, as we cannot guarantee the inclusion of subsequent corrections.
